Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate

Chapter 1259: Mother

Chapter 1259: Mother

Kai Bright stood by the window, watching Charles Seymour’s car leave, disappearing into the night, and a wave of melancholy filled his heart. This was truly the first time he saw Charles back down.

They had to get past this hurdle themselves.

Charles Seymour returned home, and it was already late.

What he expected to be a dark villa had one light still glowing warmly in the living room, where Sophie Wilson was reading.

Hearing the sound of the door, she turned her head to look at him.

Her smile blossomed, lighting up all the surrounding darkness instantly, her joyful voice like the wind causing flowers to bloom fragrantly: "You’re back."

Charles Seymour’s Adam’s apple bobbed quickly up and down, then he strode forward, scooped her off the sofa, and carried her upstairs directly.

Sophie Wilson didn’t even have time to react when she was tossed onto the bed. What was Charles up to?

"Sophie, I have something to tell you." Charles Seymour began, his voice hoarse with emotion yet solemn enough to make Sophie’s heart tighten. What was happening?

——

At the Seymour Family’s old residence, Old Mrs. Seymour was gently wiping the corners of the child’s mouth, smiling as she asked, "Darling, are you full?"

"Mm." The child nodded obediently.

"Then in a little while we..." Old Mrs. Seymour had just started speaking when she abruptly noticed the child suddenly become frightened, as if seeing something terrifying and quickly hide in her arms.

Old Mrs. Seymour was startled. What was going on?

Old Mrs. Seymour turned her head and saw Charles Seymour had come in at some point, and crucially... standing beside him was Sophie Wilson.

Old Mrs. Seymour was also startled; she understood now why her grandchild had hidden. Afraid Sophie would notice.

"Sophie..." Old Mrs. Seymour tried to muster a smile, but moving her lips only revealed how stiff her face was, unable to complete this challenging task.

Sophie Wilson looked at the child hiding in Old Mrs. Seymour’s arms, trying hard to conceal himself, and her heart was breaking. She lightly clapped her hands, trying not to let the tears fall, and asked with a smile, "Darling, mommy’s here, don’t you want to see mommy?"

Old Mrs. Seymour’s body stiffened, her incredulous gaze falling instantly onto Charles Seymour.

Charles Seymour slowly nodded, this action finally eased Old Mrs. Seymour’s heart, lifting the heavy stone that had weighed down on it.

The child hiding in Old Mrs. Seymour’s arms heard Sophie Wilson’s words, and cautiously peeked out, revealing only his big round eyes, as bewildered as a skittish fawn, carefully surveying the outside situation.

His big, clear eyes stared straight at Sophie Wilson for a long time, unwillingly shifting to Charles Seymour’s face only after some time, his eyes silently questioning, timidly and somewhat anxiously waiting for Charles Seymour’s answer.

Charles Seymour felt his heart constrict under his son’s pleading gaze, and he nodded slightly, "Darling..."

Before Charles Seymour’s comforting words were out, his son, like a small bird, suddenly flew out from Old Mrs. Seymour’s arms and dashed into Sophie Wilson’s embrace, tenderly calling out, "Mommy!"

The little head nestled vigorously against Sophie Wilson’s chest, rubbing back and forth with such intimacy, not at all distant.
