Mora is no longer the chosen Luna
Mora is no longer the chosen Luna
Isla’s POV
I woke up in the pack hospital. Max was beside me holding my hand and stroking my hair out of my face.
“Oh, baby I am so glad that you are awake. I'm not so happy about the fact that you put yourself into such a shitty situation like that.” Max gushed and I smiled.
“What about Miller?” I asked not sure how long I had been out of it for.
Max sat back in the chair and sighed as he rubbed at his forehead.
“He's gone,” he answered me without looking my way at all.
What did he mean by gone?
Was he hiding something from me?
“Max?” someone knocked on the door and Max immediately went to it without even giving me a proper explanation.
I watched the door close behind him and tried to sit myself up in the bed. There was a glass of water beside the bed on the cabinet and I reached for it. As I did so, someone picked it up and handed it to me.
Mora.
She looked rough as hell and her eyes were all red and puffy from crying.
Serves her right.
I did not know what was wrong with her but whatever it was, she deserved it. I had been through hell and back because of that female.
“Isla, please will you just hear me out?” she sighed and plonked herself on the edge of my bed.
I wanted her to go away and leave me alone but that was unlikely to happen since she was now my brother's mate.
“I have nothing to say to you,” I said through clenched teeth.
“I am sorry. That's all I can say.” she finally said to me after a few moments. Then glanced at me sadly and I felt a strange pang of guilt eat away at me.
What was happening to me?
Why was I suddenly feeling sorry for her?
She had been the one to cause all of this, not me.
“You caused all of this, not me.” I reminded her and she winced at the memory of that.
Good!
I'm glad that she was feeling it. About time really.
“Why are you here?” I rolled my eyes and wished that Max would hurry up so that I did not have to listen to her feeble excuses.
“Daniel is my mate, and I could not deny that any longer, this baby deserved the truth. I could not allow myself to bring my baby up living a lie as the heir to Pembroke.”
Was she for real?
“Where is Miller now?” I asked hoping that Ed had not been silly enough to allow him to remain here. He did not deserve that kind of special treatment.
“He's gone. He was banished,” she admitted looking at her fingers as she twiddled them nervously.
“He rejected me. I am no longer his chosen mate or luna to Pembroke. He cut all that off when he left.”
I was in a state of disbelief when Max suddenly walked back in.
“Isla, I feel it is best that you come back with me to my home.” Max told me, ignoring the fact that Mora was still sitting there.
“No. He can't do that.” I gasped, thinking about Cora and Aly. What about Jasmine and the others? They would die or be at the hands of rogues if Miller died or refused to give up his alpha title.
Max looked furious at my lack of agreement.
“It is what is best. You are my mate and I refuse to let anything happen to you,” he said firmly.
There was no way that I could let this happen.
I needed to see Ed and my mother. They still had some serious explaining to do.
“I won't allow this. I will speak to them myself.” I growled throwing the covers off myself and pushing Mora out of the way.
“No, you will listen to what you are told.” Ed appeared and gestured for Mora and Max to leave us to talk alone.
There was no way this was going to go well!
