Alpha's Wife Hunt

Chapter 675

Chapter 675

Third person's POV

In the auction venue for living "merchandise," the atmosphere is always more heated and agitated than in those for inanimate objects.

The guests had collected their entry number cards early and stepped into the venue with anticipation, each secretly speculating on what kind of "prey" they might acquire today.

Their eyes gleamed with greed, excitement, and curiosity, as if they were about to participate in a grand and thrilling carnival, rather than a sinful transaction.

On the eve of the auction's commencement, Matilda suddenly received a message from her subordinates, informing her that someone was attempting to prevent the auction from starting.

Matilda immediately guessed who was behind this mischief, a disdainful sneer curling her lips.

She whispered, "He arrived quite promptly. Ignore it, proceed with the plan."

One of her subordinates, hearing this, showed a worried expression and cautiously advised, "He seems to have quite a significant background. I've seen even Dalton, the manager, treating them with utmost respect. The boss isn't on the ship this time. If anything goes wrong, we can't afford the consequences."

Matilda folded her arms across her chest, lifting her chin slightly, her eyes revealing a streak of defiance and arrogance. "No matter who they are, once they're on our ship, they must follow our rules. Don't forget, what kind of place is this?"

"But..." The subordinate wanted to persuade further.

Matilda impatiently waved her hand, cutting him off, "Tell him. If he wants the person, it depends on how capable he is. I want to see what he can do to me."

"That woman also mentioned Derek before. Do you think it could really be Derek himself?" The subordinate hesitated but still voiced his doubts.

"Idiot! Haven't you seen the news? Derek has been in Africa for half a year. Even if he had wings, he couldn't be here so quickly," Matilda snorted, her face full of mockery.

"That person is just trying to be mysterious. I want to see what tricks he dares to play in front of me."

"I always feel this matter is a bit uncertain. I checked Tabitha's way onto the ship, and it was through..."

"Enough, no more nonsense. The auction is about to start. Hurry up and get ready," Matilda frowned, her tone becoming stern.

At this moment, she was completely immersed in her meticulously planned revenge, not wanting to hear any more of her subordinate's fussing worries.

She set up this trap, aiming to make Derek regret that night deeply.

Every time she recalled the humiliation she suffered that night, it was as if a raging fire burned in her heart, consuming her rationality and leaving only a burning hatred.

She remembered Derek forcing her to take so many drugs, causing immense torment to her body and soul, nearly costing her half her life.

In that endless pain, she cursed that bastard every second, vowing to return the pain a thousandfold, ten thousandfold.

Meanwhile, Derek also received the news that Matilda refused to release the hostages.

His face was terrifyingly gloomy, and his body exuded a bone-chilling aura, as if the surrounding air was frozen by him.

"Alpha Derek, I've found out that the woman is the second-in-command on the ship. The ship's owner is not here today, and she's in charge of everything.

"She clearly has a grudge against you, but they have hundreds of enforcers on the ship, equivalent to a small mercenary group.

"We can't afford a direct confrontation now. Otherwise, Tabitha and Ayla will be in greater danger."

Forrest said anxiously, his forehead covered with fine beads of sweat.

Derek narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of coldness and determination in his gaze. "How long does Alvin need?"

"The helicopter will take at least five hours to get here," Forrest replied helplessly.

Derek understood that he had to endure the long wait for over five hours, which was undoubtedly a great torment for him.

"Alpha Derek, there's another thing. Last time you used the warship to eliminate pirates, it was justified, but this time, if you arbitrarily use military power to mobilize people, it will be hard to explain. You know the people on this ship..."

Forrest stopped himself, his face full of worry.

The world was never simply black and white, and this gray area was always the most sensitive and tricky.

Although Forrest did not speak it out loud, they both knew that, on this ship, besides those who committed crimes, there were also some so-called "righteous" people mixed in.

It was because of these people acting as a protective umbrella that the ship could continue to exist, blatantly carrying out various illegal transactions.

If Derek intervened arbitrarily, it would inevitably affect the interests of these people, which could have a very negative impact on his future.

In the past two years, because of Tabitha, Derek had already relinquished half of his responsibilities and gradually retreated to the background on the stage of power.

His opponents took the opportunity to press their advantage, continuously expanding their influence.

If he handled this incident improperly, and ultimately failed in the next Lycan election, it would not only affect his enterprise but could also plunge the entire Black Thorn Pack into an irreversible predicament.
