Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate

Chapter 1335: Tension

Chapter 1335: Tension

Charles Seymour completely ignored Frederick Cole’s tightly furrowed brows and instead said to the little one in his arms, "Call Grandpa.""Grandpa!" The little one called out in a crisp voice, scattering all the gloom in Frederick Cole’s heart.

"Come to Grandpa." Frederick Cole smiled and beckoned to the child.

Charles Seymour very generously set the little one down onto Frederick Cole’s lap.

The kid didn’t seem shy at all, snuggling obediently into Frederick Cole’s arms, eyes rolling around, curiously taking in everything around him.

"Mommy!" After watching the screens for a while, the little one suddenly pointed at one of them and cried out excitedly.

Only then did Frederick Cole remember that things had already started over there.

He hurriedly followed the direction of the child’s finger, and sure enough, saw Sophie Wilson appear on the surveillance monitor.

On the screen, Sophie Wilson suddenly looked up and gave the camera a big, brilliant smile, which made the little one giggle along with her.

Frederick Cole let out a soft, amused sigh. As expected of Sophie. The cameras they’d set up were hidden well enough that even these punk trainees would need some time to notice them, yet Sophie had only just arrived and already spotted one.

A moment later, Sophie Wilson stepped back and melted into the trees and undergrowth.

The child’s clear black‑and‑white eyes opened wide. He didn’t know what Mommy was doing, and watched on in curiosity.

Frederick Cole stared at the monitor and saw that those people had already spread out.

Some, confident in their own abilities, were preparing to fight solo. Of course, more of them chose to work in small teams.

Ambush or assault, a lot of them were setting up traps, just waiting for Sophie Wilson to walk right into them.

Frederick Cole looked over their positioning and nodded in satisfaction. These people really weren’t bad—after such a short time together, they’d managed this level of coordination. He figured they’d hashed out the tactics when they went to pick up their gear earlier.

Their positions were well chosen. What remained to be seen was whether they’d be able to cooperate smoothly enough to handle Sophie Wilson.

Wind threaded through the forest, leaves rustling softly, and you’d never guess that more than a hundred people were lying in wait inside.

It showed just how good everyone’s concealment skills were.

Kellan Blake hid quietly up in a tree. The spot he’d chosen was excellent—wide field of view, allowing him to spot Sophie Wilson’s movements at the first possible moment.

And it would be even harder for Sophie Wilson to get close to him.

Suddenly, shadows shifted in the trees ahead.

Sophie Wilson?

Kellan Blake immediately swung his weapon toward that direction, staring tensely.

The brush there shook for less than thirty seconds before settling again.

Kellan Blake’s nerves tightened further. He didn’t know whether that meant someone over there had been taken out by Sophie Wilson, or if it was just a decoy she’d deliberately created.

Kellan Blake held his weapon steadily, unaffected by any external disturbance.

That kind of rustling commotion happened another five or six times. Each time, Kellan Blake would adjust his aim toward it, his back pressed tight against the trunk, never giving Sophie Wilson any chance at a sneak attack.

He couldn’t be sure whether those noises were real threats or bait meant to lure him out.

Maybe Sophie Wilson still hadn’t found his position yet, even now—but he couldn’t relax. He wouldn’t overlook even the faintest possibility.

"Seven..." Kellan Blake silently counted in his mind.

The disturbance had occurred seven times now, and his vigilance was only climbing higher, his assessment of Sophie Wilson rising just as quickly.
