Chapter 1394: Estrangement
After dinner, Doctor Ouyang went back to the hospital. He was busy and couldn’t leave. However, he left Mu Yan his phone number, clearly wanting to get closer to her.
Mu Yan accompanied Kong Lizhen to a nearby mall and asked Kong Lizhen for her thoughts.
"Don’t you like Doctor Ouyang, godmother?"
"He’s just a child playing house." Kong Lizhen smiled.
"How is that possible?" Mu Yan looked at her in surprise. "I think he’s quite sincere."
"You only met him once; you don’t know him."
"But a person’s eyes can’t lie. Doctor Ouyang’s eyes are very clear, which shows he has a simple mind." Mu Yan immediately defended.
Kong Lizhen looked at the earnest Mu Yan and smiled, "Do you want me to find a dad for you like this?"
Mu Yan thought for a moment and shook her head, "Not exactly, I just don’t want godmother to miss someone who likes her."
Kong Lizhen seemed to have thought of something, looked ahead, and said calmly, "How do you know he really likes me? How do you know his ’likes’ can last forever, without any doubt mixed in?"
Mu Yan froze for a moment, looking at Kong Lizhen’s indifferent face, thinking, it might indeed be the case.
Kong Lizhen looked at Mu Yan and said in a deep voice, "Yanyan, never hand over your whole heart to a man. Otherwise, if one day you find out you trusted the wrong person, the harm to yourself will be multiplied."
Mu Yan subconsciously nodded, thinking of herself and Jiang Jingheng.
She indeed gave him her whole mind and body, but she didn’t believe he would betray her.
They strolled until dusk, Kong Lizhen wanted to invite Mu Yan to dinner, but she refused.
Knowing she was going home to be with her husband, Kong Lizhen didn’t say anything.
In the villa, when Mu Yan returned home, Jiang Jingheng was already back.
He was sitting on the sofa, brows tightly furrowed, looking serious, with a phone in his hand, not knowing what he was looking at.
Upon hearing movement at the door, he looked up to see Mu Yan and immediately stood up, asking, "Did you go to the hospital today?"
Mu Yan froze for a moment, then nodded.
Jiang Jingheng moved closer, holding her hand, and asked, "Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
"No." Mu Yan smiled slightly, "I’m doing fine."
"Then why did you go to the hospital?" Jiang Jingheng was skeptical.
Mu Yan looked at Jiang Jingheng’s tense face and suddenly thought of a question.
She asked, "How do you know I went to the hospital?"
In the morning, she chose to take a taxi to the hospital to avoid him.
Jiang Jingheng looked at her, silent.
Mu Yan tentatively asked, "So, you had someone follow me?"
Jiang Jingheng still didn’t speak, and Mu Yan took his silence as consent.
She joked, "I’m not a child, are you that worried about me?"
"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have kept it from you." Jiang Jingheng said softly, "I was wrong."
Mu Yan laughed, "You’re looking out for me, why apologize? I have nothing to hide from you. Okay, I’ve been shopping all afternoon, I’m really hungry now."
"Dinner is ready, wash your hands and you can eat."
"Okay, I’ll go upstairs and change my clothes, I’m all sweaty." Mu Yan smiled and walked upstairs.
But as she reached the staircase, her smile gradually faded.
She knew he meant no harm, but she felt oppressed, as if every move she made was under his control, and she was also caught in a cage he had set.
